Site Facilities Lead

Overview

Job Title: Site Facilities Lead Department: Applied Automation – Whole. Location: Concept House – Plymouth Reporting to: Director Hours of Work: Monday – Thursday 07:00 – 16.30 *36hr week

Purpose of the Role

We are looking for a hands-on site facilities lead to oversee the day-to-day upkeep, maintenance, and smooth running of our industrial manufacturing site in Plymouth. The role will ensure buildings, site infrastructure, and equipment are maintained to a high standard, creating a safe, reliable, and efficient working environment. Working closely with the Health & Safety Manager, this role supports compliance but is primarily centred around facilities upkeep and contractor management.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Ensure facilities and equipment issues are resolved quickly and effectively.
  • Monitor the condition of buildings and site services, raising recommendations for improvements.
  • Support the Health & Safety Manager by ensuring facilities meet compliance needs (e.g. accessibility, fire systems, emergency equipment).
  • Manage maintenance budgets and provide input on cost-effective solutions.
  • Be the main point of contact for facilities-related queries across the site.
  • Carry out and oversee the maintenance, repair, and servicing of site infrastructure, including: o Industrial equipment (Production and non-production critical) o Office blocks, canteens, washrooms, and communal areas
  • Plan and deliver preventative maintenance schedules to minimise downtime and disruption.
  • Coordinate and supervise external contractors for services such as: o Pest control o PAT testing o Grounds maintenance o Waste management and recycling o Other facilities-related contracts as required

Requirements

  • Trade background (electrical, mechanical, or building maintenance) would be an asset.
  • IOSH Managing Safely or similar (desirable but not essential).

Desirable

  • Practical facilities management or site maintenance experience, ideally within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong organisational skills with a proactive, problem-solving approach.
  • Experience coordinating and managing external contractors.
  • Basic understanding of health & safety requirements, with the ability to support compliance activities led by the H&S Manager.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively across teams and with suppliers.
